Description: A truly striking aquarium plant, Hygrophila Polysperma 'Sunset' is best known for its white veins that contrast beautifully against leaves that can range from bright green to a pinkish-red. It is a typical midground or background aquarium plant and is also relatively easy to grow. However, in order to bring out this truly 'striking' form, high lighting and Co2 is recommended as this will show its full colour.
Difficulty: As with all aquarium plants, Co2 injection and appropriate fertilisation are recommended for optimal health and growth. As mentioned above an advanced setup is absolutely not necessary to grow this plant but is recommended for best form and the desired pink-red colouration.
Emersed Growth: Hygrophila Polysperma 'Sunset' grows very easily emersed and very fast. However, it is not nearly as attractive. The plant seems to lose its white veins and is usually green when grown out of water.
